Faith No More - Sol Invictus
Most comeback record's are absolute tosh but this bucks the trend.

Separation Anxiety, Cone of Shame and Matador rank up there with their best output.

Always thought Patton was a genius...

It leaked a few weeks ago, Swans! I've pretty much listened to it constantly since then.

I agree with the stand out tracks, too! I think it's their best release since Angel Dust. Cone of Shame is probably my favourite track. I'd heard Superhero, Matador and Motherfucker at some of the previous live shows. Matador is great live!

Saw them in 1992 supporting Guns n' Roses (along with Soundgarden).

That makes me feel old. :-(

Joey - oooh, I'd like to pull your wings off...

Agreed on all of this, except I love King for a Day and this doesn't top that for me.

Also, Separation Anxiety is a TUNE!

I agree Matador is good, but most of the rest I think is pretty mundane. I wanted to like the record and really had low expectations.

They can say whatever they want about Martin's lack of contribution on Angel Dust, but the fact is their output has been largely boring since he left. It might be the case where it was no longer possible for him to play with them, but he definitely provided some kind of counter balance and perhaps some tension that pushed the music somewhere beyond "meh."

Is this one of those modern 'beat' combos you youngsters like so much?

Gets better after a few listens.....wasn't overly impressed with it at first, but it's growing on me.

I'm sceptical of this.

I actually think KFAD was their best record, although The Real Thing and Angel Dust were fucking amazing. When I heard Album of the Year I fell asleep.

I saw them live last year and heard them play Superhero and Motherfucker. I was unmoved and, as much of a fan as I am (was), I am not keen on buying the new one as I just think it's gonna be shite.

I saw them play one of their first London shows with Patton at the Astoria in 90

They're fucking always great value for money.

Even at bst last year - they were great

Not big at all in the USA - which shows you how dull that lot are . : .

Mike Patton is a mentalist, but in a good way.

The new album is much better than AOTY for me!

Really looking forward to seeing these guys again next month - hoping to hear a few more of the new songs live.
